Conditioning is the step before pelleting during feed processing.
It is used to neutralize unwanted microorganisms in the feed.
Around 3 to 5 percent steam is used depending on the ration. Conditioning also extends the lifetime of the roller and disc of the pellet mill by enhancing the pelleting ability. The product is heat treated for minimum 50 maximum 240 seconds.
